The National Park Church is a family of believers pointing people to God through a love relationship with Jesus.
NPC will REACH.
Revealing our gifts
This first mission statement envisions a philosophy of mission that seeks to use our family’s resources in a focused way. What would happen if our church found a local mission and/or a foreign mission that had great potential to be light in their community and really needed help? What if we took an inventory of all the resources that we had – time, talents, abilities and finances of our members – and focused them in such a way that we made a huge impact on the mission? We see an approach to mission – local and foreign – that focuses all our energies on specific efforts and then seeks to provide the volunteer time of our members (for example, Saturdays at Habitat village or short-term mission trips) and financial backing to help those missions succeed.
Engaging all in a relationship with Jesus
NPC Family Life Ministry will take ownership of the Jesus Mission by loving each other so that we can love the families who aren't here yet, by serving(outreach), encouraging(fellowship), teaching(discipleship), and worship. We will value our kids and families by committing to financially support this ministry and we will explore different models of ministry that addresses volunteer burnout, time and family commitments and that assists families to take a more proactive role in the faith training of their children at home. Our goal is that families and students are so saturated by being in the presence of Jesus that they can't help but share what they've seen, heard, touched, and tasted.
Accepting seekers into the body
We want to be a church that is more than “friendly at the door.” We want to go deeper than that with people. We see a church where people are oriented quickly as to who our shepherds are in case they need help and about what
we believe and do at NPC. We want each person to feel like they are wanted, valued, loved, and missed when they are away. We want everyone to find relationships within the family and places where they can contribute their unique talents to the entire body.
Communicating love to our community
This mission deals with our reputation in our community. We want this community to know that we are welcoming and full of grace. We understand that no one has it all figured out and that everyone, even churches, struggle with what is right. Because that is true, we welcome any and everyone to join us on the journey to becoming what God wants us to become. We want the answer to the question, “Where do you go to church?” to be an opportunity for a conversation rather than another closed door. We also desire to cooperate with the Body of Christ in our community in order to spread the love and good news of Jesus and to stand against sin and evil.
Host worship that expresses love for God and each other
Our worship together is an uplifting and spiritual time that we spend together as a church family. This final mission works to continue to provide an encouraging and meaningful worship time at NPC. We desire to have worship that is passionate, enthusiastic and filled with God’s Spirit. We see a worship time where people feel the freedom to express themselves more to God and to each other. It is a time where we can share and witness together about the specific work of God in our lives. We also envision worship where the members of our congregation can utilize the wonderful talents that they have been given through special presentations to the church family. We envision our church family examining our traditions in light of Scripture to determine what is good, right, and helpful.
